Our shutters are made from solid 3/4 inch pine. We cut and style everything in our wood shop, located just south of the Adirondack park. Shutters are made for the style used in camps and homes in the Adirondacks - including Hinckley Lake, White Lake, Old Forge, Inlet, Eagle Bay, Saranac Lake, Racquette Lake, Lake Placid and more.
While our standard shapes are pine trees, ducks, moose and bears, we can custom machine pretty much any shape.
This unique style is made only by North Orleans Woodwords. It consists of a single piece of solid pine with the shape cut out of the center. A backing is then created with your choice of color to show through the cutout. Three grooves are added to provide depth and texture, as well as two thin cross slats. Jagged ends (as pictured) are also optionally available. (Shown with PPG Proluxe SRD Natural 078 Stain)
A simpler and more traditional shutter, the Adirondack Traditional consists of two pine planks fastened together by wide cross slats. The raised shape is attached in the center. (Shown unstained)
All pieces are fastened using weather resitant outdoor wood screws - not glue, and are designed to hold up for many years. The screws that fasten the shutter to the building come with the shutter, and are available in dark green, brown or silver. Shapes/cutouts are machined using a CNC machine for precision accuracy and consistency.
